Dear Members, 6th June 2021
On the previous Captains’ Corner we had a gremlin make himself known – apologies for that. We thought we would rectify that and take the opportunity in sharing a few ideas and thoughts.
Firstly, Club Champs will be on the LAST WEEKEND of July. Making that:
Ladies Club Champs Friday 30th (pm) and Saturday 31st July(am)
Men’s Club Champs Saturday 31st July (pm) and Sunday 1st August (am)
First round will be played with a fourball of your choice
Day 2 will be seeded in terms of your Section Performance
A Division >9 Medal
B Division 10-18 Medal
C Division 19> Stableford
Seniors +75 Stableford
Our sincere apologies for any possible confusion.
We have a few bookings in for the KNOCK OUTS; please make sure you get your names on that list. We were restricted by COVID last year but winning the Knock Outs is a great accomplishment and you once again have the opportunity of getting your name engraved on a sought after Trophy.
Par 3 Competition will still be on Friday 18th June. Please come and support that. It’s great fun for everyone, it’s fast and a great way to spend a Friday afternoon.
Please be aware that there are some morning and early afternoon rounds that we accommodate. We leave a 1hour BLOCK to create some space for the early rounds. Please try and book from after 1pm so that you do not get stuck behind the earlier golfers?
Unfortunately we cannot have a Shotgun start until such time that we have more support.
And a new one we are trying on Friday July 2nd – GREENSOMES. Book a partner and come and join us for some Friday fun.
Select the better drive. Minimum of 6 drives per player used. Combine your handicaps and play off 40% of that.
Lastly, we have been wanting to level the TEES and give them some much needed TLC for some time. We were ready to do so in March, but with the SA Senior Open in early April, decided, on consultation, to make full use of the expected 6-8 weeks of growth left before winter sets in.
Sadly, the temperature dropped earlier than expected – slowing the recovery.
We are working on a plan for the 5 tees that are under pressure to recover. Please bear with us.
See you out there.
